I wish I could tell you that processing legumes in a large land area are going to be quick, efficient and smooth. As you probably know, if you have a very large operation, which is covering a tremendous amount of territory, all sorts of problems can take place out in the field.
Vehicles might conk out. Electricity might not go where it needs to go. People might now show up on time or not show up at all. There’s just so many things that could go wrong.
The same applies to doing operations or moving around in any wide, open territory. If you don’t have access to the electrical grid, then your best bet would be solar energy. Sounds good so far, right? After all, solar energy is always free. The sun, after all, shines in all parts of the world. Well, so far so good, but here’s a problem. If you don’t bring the right equipment, you’re going to have a bad time.
I am, of course, talking about a solar backpack. The great thing about a solar backpack is that it stores energy passively. You just need to wear it and expose it to the sun, and it will start storing energy. When it’s time to tap that energy, you just need to take off the solar backpack, plug in your equipment, and you’re good to go.
Whether you are recharging some sort of mobile device like a tablet or mobile phone, or something more substantive like a notebook, computer, or a radio, a solar backpack is up to the job. We’re not even talking about lighting because that’s pretty much a foregone conclusion.
The funny thing about this type of equipment is that it is so easy to miss. Seriously. If you do not bring it along, you will easily get frustrated when your gadgets run out of juice and you’re fumbling in the dark unnecessarily. However, when you bring it along, it is too easy to not even ‘see’ it. You kind of automatically unpack it, plug all sorts of stuff in, and go about the rest of your trip. In other words, you take it for granted. This is what is truly awesome about this situation. Its power lies in its ability to be taken for granted and to blend in the scene. Keep this in mind. This highlights its importance and the compelling need you have for it. Don’t drop the ball.
So do yourself a big favor. If you want to maximize your peace of mind while you’re out there on the field, doing legume procession or just working with your production crew, pack along a solar backpack. It’s not all that heavy. It doesn’t take up much space, but believe me, it can pack quite a bit of peace of mind, confidence, and reassurance. Given all the things that could possibly go wrong out there, we could all use a little bit more peace of mind.
